Golf Shamble Rules
Players: Teams of 2 to 4
A shamble is a hybrid: the team plays a scramble off the tee — everyone hits, you pick the best drive — then each player plays their own ball from there to the hole. The team takes its best one or two scores on the hole.
How it plays
All players tee off and the team selects the best drive. Everyone moves their ball to that spot and plays in individually. Decide before the round whether you count the single best score or the best two of four; best-two is common.
A shamble gives everyone a good tee shot to play from, so scores stay low and fun without the full give-and-go of a scramble.
Common questions
How does a shamble work?
Scramble off the tee to the best drive, then each player plays their own ball into the hole, with the team counting its best one or two scores.
Is a shamble easier than best ball?
Usually, because everyone gets to play their approach from the best tee shot, which lowers team scores.
