Golf Scramble Rules
Players: Teams of 2 to 4
In a scramble, every player on the team tees off, the team picks the single best shot, and everyone plays their next shot from that spot. Repeat until holed. It is fast, social, and forgiving, which is why charity outings love it.
How it plays
All players hit each shot; the team selects the best ball and all play from there (within a club-length, no closer to the hole). One team score per hole. Many events require a minimum number of drives from each player so one bomber can't carry the team.
Handicaps are usually a small percentage of the combined team handicap, since a scramble already produces low scores.
Common questions
How does a golf scramble work?
Everyone tees off, the team picks the best shot, and all players play their next from that spot, repeating until the ball is holed for one team score.
What is the minimum-drives rule?
A requirement that the team use a set number of each player's tee shots over the round, so a single long hitter cannot dominate.
