Quota Golf Game Rules
Players: Any number
Quota gives every player a personal target: 36 minus your course handicap. You earn points per hole, commonly 1 for bogey, 2 for par, 4 for birdie, and 8 for eagle, and whoever beats their quota by the most wins. It is one of the fairest games for a mixed-ability group.

Your quota is 36 minus your course handicap. A 10 handicap needs 26 points; a scratch needs 36. Plus handicaps add to 36 instead.
The 36 comes from the points table itself: par on every hole scores 36 points, so a scratch player is expected to play to par.
Scoring points
The standard table: 1 point for bogey, 2 for par, 4 for birdie, 8 for eagle, and nothing for double bogey or worse. Some groups award a half point for double bogey to keep everyone writing numbers down.
At the end of the round, compare points earned to quota. Plus-4 beats plus-2. Everyone competes against their own number, so a 20 handicap having a day can beat the club champion straight up.
Why groups love it
Blow-up holes stop hurting after double bogey, so nobody is out of it mid-round, and the doubled birdie and eagle points reward aggressive golf. It also runs perfectly as a season-long league game, with quotas adjusting off recent results.
Common questions
How is a golf quota calculated?
36 minus your course handicap. A 12 handicap has a quota of 24 points; a scratch player needs 36.
What are the standard quota points?
1 for bogey, 2 for par, 4 for birdie, 8 for eagle, zero for double bogey or worse. Agree on any half-point-for-double variant first.
Who wins the quota game?
Whoever finishes the most points over their quota. Ties commonly split or are settled by a back-nine countback, so pick the tiebreaker up front.
Is quota the same as Stableford?
They are cousins. Both score points per hole, but Stableford compares point totals directly while quota measures everyone against a personal target based on their handicap.
